“Just as we continue to pray for a full recovery for our son, we pray for healing for the young men accused in this crime and hope that the time will come when they will become a great credit to their families and community” Elder Fauber’s parents said.
Elder M. Michael Fauber, a full time missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was shot on December 3, 2021. He was released from the hospital and returned home on December 21. Elder Fauber was released from his full time mission the evening he returned home.
Local police in Alabama have arrested two suspects in their investigation of the shooting, they entered a Latter-day Saint meetinghouse for an activity and started shooting then fled in a vehicle. You can read the entire story about what happened here
The Alabama Birmingham Mission President, Chad W. Allred, told the Faubers that a few seconds before the 8:30 p.m. shooting, their son testified “to the young man who ended up shooting him about the Savior and about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.”
Elder Fauber underwent three surgeries over many days to address his injuries, which could have been fatal.
