I went to my daughters Evening of Excellence on Sunday and really enjoyed the evening with my three oldest girls, Lacie, Alexa, and Ashlyn. Lacie conducted and gave some closing remarks and nailed it big time. Alexa, shared about her 10 hour project and did a fabulous job, and Ashlyn got to watch her two older sisters set a great example for her. This young women program is absolutely inspired!!

One of their leaders spent about an hour and a half (if I heard correctly) making sure the theme of the night was expertly and beautifully written on the chalk board. What an amazing job she did. It got me really thinking about the message. Below are just two scriptures that came to mind.

1 Nephi 8:10-12
10 And it came to pass that I beheld a tree, whose fruit was desirable to make one happy.

11 And it came to pass that I did go forth and partake of the fruit thereof; and I beheld that it was most sweet, above all that I ever before tasted. Yea, and I beheld that the fruit thereof was white, to exceed all the whiteness that I had ever seen.

12 And as I partook of the fruit thereof it filled my soul with exceedingly great joy; wherefore, I began to be desirous that my family should partake of it also; for I knew that it was desirable above all other fruit. https://www.lds.org/study/scriptures/bofm/1-ne/8?lang=eng

“Most sweet, above all that I ever before tasted,” the work of Christ which is this work, is sweet and joyous! So, how do we go about laying hold on this sweet fruit?

Alma 32:27-28
27 But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words.

28 Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out by your unbelief, that ye will resist the Spirit of the Lord, behold, it will begin to swell within your breasts; and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves–It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me. https://www.lds.org/study/scriptures/bofm/alma/32?lang=eng

As we plant the seed of Christ in our hearts, and then water it and feed it, it will begin to swell and grow in our souls and then it will begin to become delicious to us. Let this be our challenge and mission, to plant the seed and let it swell and grow within us. As we do, we will find that life is sweeter and your hearts will overflow with joy!
