Last Sunday President Russell M. Nelson and his wife have a fireside to the Youth. It was powerful. He asked the youth to do give things as they enlist in the youth battalion of the Lord to help gather Israel.
“Now, let me summarize by reviewing my five invitations for you to enlist in the Lord’s youth battalion to help gather Israel:
Hold a seven-day fast from social media.
Make a weekly sacrifice of time to the Lord for three weeks.
Keep on the covenant path. If you are off, repent and get back on the path.
Pray daily that all of God’s children might receive the blessings of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Stand out. Be different. Be a light. Give to a friend one copy of the booklet For the Strength of Youth.
My beloved younger brothers and sisters, you are among the best the Lord has ever sent to this world. You have the capacity to be smarter and wiser and have more impact on the world than any previous generation!”

I am starting my 7 day fast of social media today to set an example for my children. Even though they don’t have socal media, I want them to know that following the Prophet is more important than how important or timely we may feel that his council may be. The Lord knows why, and that is good enough for me. I hope that others would join me in this 7 day fast of social media. Join me and change your profile picture during the fast to send a signal to the world that you too will follow the prophet.
