The story of Peter walking on water, then fearing the waves and thunder, and finally the Savior catching him up out of the water, has always been precious to me. The saviors words, “wherefore didst thou doubt?“ is a call and plea to all to put our trust in the Lord and doubt not that he is able to and will protect us from all hazard outside of His will for us. Sometimes we to falter and waiver in the midst of so much evidence like Peter, saw the Savior on the water, the Savior told him to come unto Him on the water, and he started to walk on the water. Now that’s a lot of evidence to put your trust in the Lord, and yet he feared, doubted, and faltered in his faith.
The interesting thing, is that it simply does not have to be like this. The Scriptures are laid before us and we have access to the greatest power on earth or in heaven, even the light of Christ, and the power of the Holy Ghost, which is a third member of the Godhead. Just a few quick scriptures:
John 1:9
That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

Doctrine and Covenants 93:2
And that I am the true light that lighteth every man that cometh into the world;

It should be explicitly clear that the Light of Christ was given to all men born into the world, now let’s get a glimpse into it’s power.
Doctrine and Covenants 84:46-47
And the Spirit giveth light to every man that cometh into the world; and the Spirit enlighteneth every man through the world, that hearkeneth to the voice of the Spirit.
47 And every one that hearkeneth to the voice of the Spirit cometh unto God, even the Father.

Doctrine and Covenants 88:12-13
12 Which light proceedeth forth from the presence of God to fill the immensity of space–
13 The light which is in all things, which giveth life to all things, which is the law by which all things are governed, even the power of God who sitteth upon his throne, who is in the bosom of eternity, who is in the midst of all things.

Wow, with literally the power of God with us, “wherefore didst thou doubt?“ Let us move forward with great faith and put our trust in the Lord and be the means of doing much good in this generation. Doctrine and Covenants 6:8. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
