My daughter, Alexa’s favorite quote is: Life is not waiting for the storm to pass, but learning to dance in the rain. The above picture quote is the first one that I made with my girls. It turned out so nice that I made a bigger version of it as well.

This is what she said about this quote, “I just love this quote! It is explaining how life is not just waiting for our trials to close over. Its about learning how to get through hard times and pushing through to the end.” http://youthinsights.blogspot.com/2017/02/alexa-dancing-on-rain.html

As I pondered this quote, the song, Count Your Blessings, came to mind. When we count our blessings and see the good in every situation, we begin to enjoy life or as the quote says, dance in the rain.

Brightly
1. When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings; name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

2. Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings; ev’ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.

3. When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you his wealth untold.
Count your many blessings; money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven nor your home on high.

4. So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged; God is over all.
Count your many blessings; angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

[Chorus]
Count your blessings;
Name them one by one.
Count your blessings;
See what God hath done.
Count your blessings;
Name them one by one.
Count your many blessings;
See what God hath done.

I looked up the scriptures that inspired the song, and read this:

Doctrine and Covenants 78:17-19
17 Verily, verily, I say unto you, ye are little children, and ye have not as yet understood how great blessings the Father hath in his own hands and prepared for you;
18 And ye cannot bear all things now; nevertheless, be of good cheer, for I will lead you along. The kingdom is yours and the blessings thereof are yours, and the riches of eternity are yours.
19 And he who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious; and the things of this earth shall be added unto him, even an hundred fold, yea, more. https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/78?lang=eng
Wow, if we learn to receive all things with thankfulness, we shall be made glorious. I can’t think of anything I would rather have, so let’s get working on being more thankful and ultimately, “dancing in the rain.”
