“The source of the fire is not yet known, but it is believed that the fire started on the third floor of the temple,” Church spokesman Doug Andersen said. “Foam was used to extinguish the fire as much as possible, which limited water damage to the construction site.”
The Orem Utah Temple, which is currently under construction mysteriously last night just before midnight, caught on fire. The fire was quickly put out after quick response by the Orem fire department.
The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation, which is involving Orem’s fire and police departments as well as county and state fire officials. The Church of Jesus Christ has also requested assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as part of the investigation.
The temple is assumed to be completely built by sometime in 2023.
