“The Book of Mormon itself, and the Book of Mormon Videos are produced with the express purpose of bringing people closer to their Lord Jesus Christ,” Elder Rasband said in an interview on the set.
It’s just so wonderful. My spirit is elevated,” Elder Rasband said, speaking of watching the videos. “I feel closer to the Savior, and I’m one of His witnesses and one of His servants. And so, whether you’re my 4-year-old grandchild or you’re an Apostle in the Church, these videos bring you closer to Jesus Christ.”
In a few weeks filming for Season 5 will end. The filming has been going on since before June of last year. The filming originally was delayed because of the 2020 pandemic. Due to the COVID-19, the team had a year to work on improving the scripts before having the chance to return to the set in 2021.
The 11 episodes of the fifth season will have some stories that weren’t shot in sequential order with the previous four seasons. The season will go backwards to include episodes with the stories of Captain Moroni and the Title of Liberty, Helaman and the 2,000 Stripling Warriors, as well as Samuel the Lamanite and the Brother of Jared.
The highlight of Season 5 will definitely be when the risen Jesus Christ visits the people of ancient Americas.
This process of creating the Book of Mormon videos that will help the Holy Ghost touch people isn’t always easy and it usually requires a lot of prayer and revelation among the cast and crew. The work also takes a lot of patience, especially in 100 degree weather.
Bill Elliott is the media director for the Church’s Priesthood and Family Department. He has been involved with the Book of Mormon Videos from the very beginning — in both concept and execution. Elliott said “Before we start…every day starts with a word of prayer. And when you see [the cast and crew] praying and thanking God that they have a chance to work on a product like this — that brings the Spirit and testifies of Jesus Christ – it makes you realize that you’re working with something special.”
