The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has given the site for the Montpelier Idaho Temple, less than 7 weeks after the new temple was announced by President Russell M. Nelson. This is one of the temples announced in the April 2022 General Conference, out of the 17 temples declared.

Montpelier’s city hall originally sat on newly announced temple location, but was torn down in March 2021. Other small homes elsewhere on the property have been recently removed.

A map of the location for the temple was published on Friday, May 20, on the Church’s website: ChurchofJesusChrist.org. The outside look and additional details for the temple will be given at a later time.

There are more than 15,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints around the area of the temple, which includes congregations in Idaho and neighboring states like Utah and Wyoming.

The state of Idaho to date has eight other temples that are currently in operation, announced, or under construction. The temples in Idaho that have been currently dedicated are found in Boise, Rexburg, Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Meridan, and Twin Falls.

Early next month is planned for an announced temple in Burley, with a second Rexburg temple in the planning stages.
