In the scriptures it says to “pray without ceasing.” ( 1 Thessalonians 5:17)
Now some people may think that praying without ceasing is just praying the entire day which is impossible because we all have things to do. So what is praying without ceasing?
Praying without ceasing is less of an action and more of a condition or mindset. In the scriptures Alma and Paul said praying without ceasing is an expression of gratitude to God. ( 1 Thessalonians 5:17–19 and Mosiah 26:39.)
Praying in this type of way would be more like thinking of God as often as possible throughout the day and being thankful for everything God has done for you.
“Yea, and when you do not cry unto the Lord, let your hearts be full, drawn out in prayer unto him continually for your welfare, and also for the welfare of those who are around you.”
— Alma 34:27
Amulek in this verse is not talking about a verbal prayer or praying in thought! He is saying to have our hearts be full and have compassion and concern for those around you, when you are not verbally or saying a prayer in your head.
So in order to pray without ceasing, think about God often and the many things He has done for you. Have compassion and be aware of others around you. Surround yourself with good things that remind you of God and your purpose in this world.
