In the early morning, Christ finishes the atonement before six in the morning. He didn’t receive any sleep. He is completely exhausted beyond words from all of the suffering, but knows He must get up from the ground and deal with what he needs to go through next. He rests for a very short time then heads to the entrance of the garden.
Judas, one of His friends and apostles betrays Him for thirty silver pieces.
“And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.”
— Matthew 26:47
The soldiers soon take Christ away, without giving Him almost no time to rest from preforming the atonement. He was brought before the governor, Pilate, and accused of many false things from the chief priests and elders. However, Pilate could find no fault with Jesus Christ.
Jesus was brought before a crowd and because it was a certain time, the government could release a prisoner.
“But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.”
— Matthew 27:20
The evil elders and chief priests persuaded the crowd to vote to kill Jesus, and crucify Him.
Jesus had to feel even more pain since He was sent to be scourged, then the soldiers mocked Him and then later nailed to a cross.
“Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.”
— Matthew 27:26
Imagine how much pain Jesus Christ had to suffer for you. He suffered all pains, sickness, trials, and was scourged, and then had nails hammered into His hands and feet for YOU. This is how much He loves you. Please, take a time out of your day today to remember what Jesus Christ, the son of God did for you this day. However, do not cry for Him since His pain will soon end and on the third day after His death, it is said that He shall rise from the dead.
“Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.”
— Matthew 27:50
“Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.”
— John 19:40
