On a beautiful morning, just like this morning, some of the people that knew Christ went to His tomb with spices but found it empty.
“And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.”
“And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.”
“And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:”
“And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?”
“He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,”
“Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.”
—Luke 24:2-8
After this those people returned to the eleven apostles and told them what they had seen. However the apostles believed them not. Peter and another apostle, as well as Marry, went to the tomb and found it empty. The two apostles then went away, wondering what all this meant. Marry however stayed behind, thinking that the Jews probably took Christ’s body.
“Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.”
“Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.”
— John 20 :16-17
Later after this Christ would visit the eleven apostles and after that visit the ancient Americas. Then in the Spring of 1820, both Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father would appear to Jospeh Smith to restore Christ’s church back to the earth.
The Lord Jesus Christ is risen! Never forgot what He has done for you. Happy Easter!
