The Bible doesn’t tell us what Christ did in the Spirit world but fortunately, revelation was given to Jospeh F. Smith about that day. However on the day of Christ’s death and on part of the second day, it is very possible Jesus rested in Spirit Paradise from all of His troubles, sorrows, and care.
“And then shall it come to pass, that the spirits of those who are righteous are received into a state of happiness, which is called paradise, a state of rest, a state of peace, where they shall rest from all their troubles and from all care, and sorrow.”
— Alma 40:12
After most likely resting, Jesus then went and taught those in spirit prison the gospel. Christ started missionary work in the other side of the veil so that all, dead or living, can have the chance to accept, or reject, the truth.
“By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;”
— D&C 138: 8
