Suggestion: when using The Come Follow Me book, use this page for my commentary and overview. You will see a quote from the Come Follow Me and my comments on it. First, look at the quote and when it appears in the book, read my commentary below the quote. Repeat until you finish the Come Follow Me for this week. Enjoy!!!
He could easily have taken revenge on them, and considering what they had done to Joseph, that might seem understandable. And yet Joseph forgave his brothers. Not only that, but he helped them see divine purpose in his suffering.
Jospeh did the right thing which was to forgive his brothers. It is important to not seek justice for ourselves or others when we or others are wronged. God is the one who will deal justice.
Either way, it might help to ponder why Joseph was able to forgive. What clues about Joseph’s character and attitude do you find in Genesis 45; 50:15–21? How might his experiences have influenced him to be more forgiving?
Very important questions right here!
You might focus especially on the feelings of Joseph toward his brothers and on how they might have felt when he forgave them. This could lead to a discussion about how forgiveness can bless your family.
I like this suggestion. It will help you get more involved in the story and it will help you understand Joseph better.
Has your family experienced any trials that God turned into blessings?
I love this question right here.
