“We are sparing no effort to give this venerable temple, which had become increasingly vulnerable, a foundation that will withstand the forces of nature into the Millennium,” President Russell M. Nelson said during the October 2021, General Conference.
2022, this year, marks the Salt Lake Temple renovation project entering its third year. It is predicted that this project will take around three more years to complete.
Excavation on the north side of the temple is almost finished. Excavation on other sides of the Salt Lake Temple continue to help stabilize the temple even more. Workers are also preparing to pour concrete to create the foundation for the temple’s new three-level north addition. Two cranes are also on the north and south sides of the temple; removing stone from the walls and towers, and lifting other heavy materials.
