Today many people make marriage a low priority or even consider it a burden. Abraham had a different perspective—to him, the marriage of his son Isaac was of highest importance.
Marriage between a man and a women is ordained of God! Marriage is also essential in God’s plan of Happiness for all of His children. Marriage should be on the top of our list of things to do when we are at the age of being able to marry.
You might also read Elder D. Todd Christofferson’s message “Why Marriage, Why Family” (Ensign or Liahona, May 2015, 50–53) and consider why “a family built on the marriage of a man and woman supplies the best setting for God’s plan to thrive”
Marriage is ordained of God only if it is between a man and a woman. Man and man marriage or woman and woman marriage is an abomination in the eyes of God. It is wrong and ruins the plan of happiness. If you want to be happy, you need to obey God’s commandments, even if the truth is not popular. Just remember God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!!!
How are you digging spiritual wells in your life? How is the Savior like living water to you? Note that the Philistines had “stopped” the wells (see Genesis 26:18). Is there anything in your life that is stopping your wells of living water?
Very important questions right here.
How did Abraham’s servant show faithfulness in keeping his covenant? How can we follow his example?
More important questions to think about!
Genesis 24:15–28, 55–60.Your family could look in these verses for attributes that made Rebekah a worthy eternal companion for Isaac. Encourage family members to pick one of these attributes that they feel they should develop.
I love this and encourage you to do this! Everyone can work on developing attributes and we should be working on at least one attribute to improve on daily.
