“The decision is made out of an abundance of caution, as some government embassies in Ukraine are preparing to move certain personnel and their family members,” Sam Penrod, a church spokesman said.
With increasing tensions of Russia putting thousands of troops near the Ukraine border, and NATO sending troops to Ukraine incase of an invasion, The Chuch Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is temporary moving all missionaries out of Ukraine. The Church is also reassigning full-time missionaries to different countries in Europe far away from the potential conflict areas. A few missionaries near their end of service will be sent home a little earlier.
This announcement came out at the same time the Pentagon announced the United Staes is putting 8,500 troops on high alert to prepare to deploy to help Ukraine and NATO allies incase Russia invades Ukraine.
“We pray for a peaceful resolution to the tensions in Ukraine and look forward to when the missionaries may return,” Penrod said.
The Spiritual Crusade News encourages those that are reading this to pray for a peaceful solution to the increasing tensions.
