“As the temple and its blessings are important to us, our actions and our words will teach our children to love the temple as well,” wrote Sister Nancy Dance and Sister Dana Wright, former members of the Primary general advisory council. “When children understand the importance of making covenants with God, their desire to prepare for those covenants is likely to increase.”

In the October version of the Liahona, Both of these sisters gave many ideas how to help your children understand and love the house of the Lord.

For Children Ages 3-7:

Display a picture of a temple in your house.

Talk to your child about the temple.

If possible, visit the temple grounds with your child or view images with them of the temple.

For Ages 8-11:

As a family, regularly talk about and read about the temple. Also talk about the temple recommend questions. Encourage them to be worthy of holding a recommend regardless of when they will be able to attend.

Share personal experiences at the temple or from family members.

Teach about the importantes of making and keeping covenants.

Learn with your child how to do family history work and prepare to take family names to the temple.

Review together information and videos at temples.ChurchofJesusChrist.org, like the virtual tour of the Rome Italy Temple.

Talk about how important temples are and why they are made.
