“And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” Joshua 3:5
If there ever was a time that we need miracles in our lives, it is now. My wife’s uncle passed away this morning from COVID. I was asked to give him a blessing on Wednesday when he was brought home in the care of Hospice, to spend his last moments at home.
I testify of the power of the priesthood. From the moment I placed my hands on his head, the spirit was poured out upon us all. I don’t remember all that I said, but the Lord blessed him with some amazing things. His dad who had passed away many years ago was also in the circle with us, with his hands on his head and adding his faith to ours.
Rick had given him his final blessing before he passed on and that was a miraculous story in and of itself.
After the blessing, he became more and more alert and active. The rest of the night, he visited, reminisced on the past and shared many smiles and laughs. It was a true miracle, given by a loving Father in Heaven.
The next few days got progressively worse and worse, until he gave his last breath this morning. But through the power of the priesthood and the tender mercies and goodness of God, the whole family got to spend some much needed time with him and build powerful memories.
We will never know when the Lord will ask us to use our priesthood to bless the lives of His children. We must live our lives at all times to be ready and worthy of that honor and privilege. I love this scripture because it teaches us, that as we sanctify ourselves, we will be blessed with His tender mercies and we will see miracles in our lives.
