Let not your minds turn back; and when ye are worthy, in mine own due time, ye shall see and know that which was conferred upon you by the hands of my servant Joseph Smith, Jun. Amen.

The footnote for turn, takes us to Doctrine and Covenants 133:14–15. This is talking about our day and for those preparing for the bridegroom to come.

14 Go ye out from among the nations, even from Babylon, from the midst of wickedness, which is spiritual Babylon.
15 But verily, thus saith the Lord, let not your flight be in haste, but let all things be prepared before you; and he that goeth, let him not look back lest sudden destruction shall come upon him.

So, there are two aspects of this, one is spiritual and the other is physical. “For I, the Lord God, created all things, of which I have spoken, spiritually, before they were naturally upon the face of the earth” (Moses 3:5). We will be asked to physically flee Babylon, but before we will even want to physically flee, we must spiritually flee Babylon or wickedness. We learn from Lot’s wife, how absolute we must flee and not turn back in our minds or physically.

Genesis 19:12–17, 24-26
12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:
13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.
14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.
15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.
17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
24 Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven;
25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

We have all the scenarios I mentioned earlier and their respective results or rewards.

1. The sons in law did not first prepare spiritually to flee Babylon (wickedness), and so, when the time came to flee physically, they were not prepared and did not want to flee and therefore they were destroyed.
2. Lot’s wife, had prepared spiritually and when the time came to flee, she obeyed. But like the 5 foolish virgins, she had not enough oil (spiritual preparedness) and was found wanting. She looked back to Sodom or Babylon and sadly, her treasure was not in heaven, and she became salt.
3. Lot and his daughters, prepared sufficiently spiritually and when the time came to flee, they obeyed. And like the 5 wise virgins, they had sufficient oil (spiritual preparedness) and didn’t look back and where blessed with life (symbolic of life eternal).

This spiritual preparedness and not turning back is the key to unlocking all spiritual blessings. The ponderize scripture, says, “and when ye are worthy, in mine own due time, ye shall see and know that which was conferred upon you by the hands of my servant Joseph Smith, Jun.” What is that? Let’s look at Doctrine and Covenants 67:10, 13:

10 And again, verily I say unto you that it is your privilege, and a promise I give unto you that have been ordained unto this ministry, that inasmuch as you strip yourselves from jealousies and fears, and humble yourselves before me, for ye are not sufficiently humble, the veil shall be rent and you shall see me and know that I am—not with the carnal neither natural mind, but with the spiritual.
13 Ye are not able to abide the presence of God now, neither the ministering of angels; wherefore, continue in patience until ye are perfected.

I think that it is not a coincidence that the Lord used 10 virgins to represent the church and the 5 wise virgins the righteous and also that Lot and his two daughters were all blessed with life (symbolic of life eternal). All worthy members regardless of gender or position who don’t look back in their minds, can have the veil rent and shall see and know Christ, once they are perfected.

Let us prepare spiritualy and flee Babylon and NEVER TURN back.
