Four steel trusses have been added to the roof of the SLC Temple as part of the seismic design. These trusses have been inserted to the roof since the last month and a half. More updates about the Salt Lake Temple include: paving the tunnel to the General Conference Center, reinforcing the foundation of the temple, removing the foundation from the Church Office Building plaza fountain and excavation on the north side of the temple.

The renovation project for the temple was announced in April of 2019 and it began in December of that same year. The Salt Lake temple was closed on the 29th of December. The project is expected to take up to four years. Earlier this month, it was reported that the North Visitor’s Center is being decommissioned for demolition later this year. Gone are the view of grass and trees on the temple grounds. They have been replaced with by the construction zone.
