Your compassion must include yourself

“If your compassion doesn’t include yourself, it is incomplete.” Jack Kornfield

Oftentimes it is easier to have compassion for everyone else except yourself. I find that so interesting. Is that really logical, is that really fair, and seriously, how does that serve you?! It is high time you and I change this trend. Close your eyes and tell yourself that you are sorry and commit to change. In the words of my sister, “Love yourself like your neighbor. So first…you must love yourself to know how to love your neighbor.” Especially, with social media this is even more critical. Social media highlights others’ strengths, and then we end up comparing ourselves and our weaknesses which will never measure up to others’ strengths. It is time to turn a new leaf and love and have compassion on ourselves and others.

Dieter F. Uchtdorf said the following, and I am adding yourself into his words:
“When we feel hurt, angry, or envious, it is quite easy to judge people [or yourself]. This topic could actually be taught in a two-word sermon. When it comes to hating, gossiping, ignoring, ridiculing, holding grudges, or wanting to cause harm, please apply the following:
Stop it!”

Please, listen to an apostle of the Lord and stop it!!
