The doctrine and covenants is what brings us to Christ’s kingdom!

President Ezra Taft Benson taught, “The Book of Mormon brings men to Christ. The Doctrine and Covenants brings men to Christ’s kingdom. The Book of Mormon is the ‘keystone’ of our religion, and the Doctrine and Covenants is the capstone, with continuing latter-day revelation.”

If you hand someone from our church, a Book of Mormon and a Doctrine and Covenants, most if not all of their studies will be out of the Book of Mormon. In my opinion this is a routine that we need to stop. I love the Book of Mormon so much and as we can see in this quote, the book of mormon is what brings us to Christ, but to more fully understand the kingdom of God we have to search deeper. The Doctrine and Covenants is part of that deeper research. I will admit that I am one of those people who has never read the whole Doctrine and Covenants all the way through. That is the exact reason that I am so excited for this next year to start! We will be reading the Doctrine and Covenants and I believe that if we really study and prepare for Come Follow Me, then our testimony will grow by leaps and bounds.
