Mormon 5:23 Know ye not that ye are in the hands of God?
We must remember that we are in the hands of God; therefore we have no need to fear. This is true even when life is difficult and uncertain; even when “wickedness did prevail.” (Mormon 1:13) We can reflect on our previous experiences when we “tasted and knew of the goodness of Jesus,” (Mormon 1:15) even when the news and society have forgotten. “There were no gifts from the Lord, and the Holy Ghost did not come upon any, because of their wickedness and unbelief.” (Mormon 1:14) Yet “the Lord will remember the prayers of the righteous, and high have been put up unto him for them.” (Mormon 5:21)
“Faith means trusting God in good times and bad, even if that includes some suffering until we see His arm revealed in our behalf.” (Jeffrey R. Holland October 2020)
As we remember whose hands we are in, let’s reflect on this statement…”Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God; that the Father may bring about, through his most Beloved, his great and eternal purpose, in restoring the Jews, or all the house of Israel, to the land of their inheritance, which the Lord their God hath given them, unto the fulfilling of his covenant.” (Mormon 5:14) He will go before us, behind us and beside us as we work diligently to “persuade all ye ends of the earth to repent and prepare to stand before the judgement-seat of Christ.” (Mormon 3:22)
“The Lord tells us that when we stand with faith upon His rock, doubt and fear are diminished; the desire to do good increases.” (Henry B. Eyring October 2017)
As the world is quickly growing darker, we can tap into the power of God by “stand[ing] with boldness” in the truth that we know. We must “fight …for [our] children…and [our] home.” (Mormon 2:24,23) We must have “Christ” as our “shepherd”, (Mormon 5:17) or Satan will lead us away, “even as chaff is driven before the wind, or as a vessel is tossed about upon the waves, without sail or anchor, or without anything wherewith to steer her; and even as she is, so are they.” (Mormon 5:18)
“Those who rely solely on themselves and follow only their own desires and self-inclinations are so limited when compared to those who follow God and tap into His insight, power, and gifts. It has been said that someone who is all wrapped up in himself or herself makes a very small package. Strong, proactive obedience is anything but weak or passive. It is the means by which we declare our faith in God and qualify ourselves to receive the powers of heaven. Obedience is a choice. It is a choice between our own limited knowledge and power and God’s unlimited wisdom and omnipotence.” (Tom L. Perry April 2014)
