“It is my meditation all the day, and more than my meat and drink, to know how I shall make the Saints of God comprehend the visions that roll like an overflowing surge before my mind.” Joseph Smith
Can you not feel Joseph’s deep sadness, sorrow, and pain as you read these words? I can only imagine his unrelenting desire to somehow impart the great knowledge that he had obtained through constant revelation. The question we must ask ourselves is, “will we not prepare ourselves to receive this great knowledge? It is one thing to say, if I were there, I would be ready for that knowledge, and another thing, to actually be ready. Alma teaches us this same concept in these words:
For behold, it is as easy to give heed to the word of Christ, which will point to you a straight course to eternal bliss, as it was for our fathers to give heed to this compass, which would point unto them a straight course to the promised land. (Alma 37:44)
We all have the light of Christ glowing within us, and have the same access to its illuminating power than those did in Joseph’s day. Actually, we have an even greater access to the scriptures and the word of God to His prophets and apostles than any other generation that has ever lived. We are left without excuse. We must so order our lives to be prepared to receive revelation and to be tutored by angels, Jesus Christ and even God the Father. All that Joseph ever knew would be revealed to each one of us as soon as we are ready to receive it. Let us prepare now!!
