Fruit – Neil L. Andersen

God loves us! As part of the Plan of Salvation, He prepared a way for each of us to overcome ourselves, be better and return to Him. I always like to relate the tree of life with the sacrament. As we press forward, striving through the mists of darkness, ignoring the great and spacious building and kneeling before and partaking of the fruit of the tree of life, I often think of struggling and striving through each week, pressing forward in Faith, repenting of our shortcomings, cleaning and dressing and presenting ourselves before the Saviour and partaking of the sacrament and renewing our baptismal covenants with Him. Then, redoing the process each and every week. Partake of the fruit and partake of the sacrament. They are needed for our betterment and growth.

“Partaking of the fruit of the tree also symbolizes that we embrace the ordinances and covenants of the restored gospel—being baptized, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and entering the house of the Lord to be endowed with power from on high. ” – Neil L. Andersen

What a glorious gift! To know that through the eternities, we can be surrounded by those we know and love! Although we can be with our families forever, we should never forget of their importance! Sometimes, we may take them for granted and prioritize other things above them. Make sure they know you love them! By word and by deed!

“Through the grace of Jesus Christ and by honoring our covenants, we receive the immeasurable promise of living with our righteous family throughout eternity.” – Neal L. Andersen

Eldon Sala, a seminary director in Southern Alberta, has been known to turn the quote, ‘by small and simple means, are great things brought to pass’, to ‘by small and simple means are great things brought to a halt!’ We need to make sure we are doing the right things, all the time. Make sure we’re living the life we are meant to live. If we feel ourselves slipping, we need to double our efforts and reach out to others. We need to make 100% sure that we are doing the best things and maintaining our relationship and trust in God, nothing wavering!

When we focus on Him, we are happier, more grateful, more understanding, more patient, more kind, and more willing to do things that invite the Spirit into our lives. We are more effective instruments in His hands, but only if we keep our hearts and minds solely focused on Him. We cannot do this half-hearted or without full intention. Don’t wait to be ready, start today and start where you’re at and He will heal and guide you toward a better life.

“Keep your eyes and your hearts centered on the Savior Jesus Christ and the eternal joy that comes only through Him. ” – Neal L. Andersen
