Revelations 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony;

In the pre-mortal life, we fought Satan with our testimonies. We all know the end result, we won. If our testimonies conquered Satan in the pre-mortal existence, then they will conquer him here on earth. I believe it is because as we solidify our knowledge of who we truly are, and why we are here on earth, it will give us the strength to stand tall, it will cleanse us from desire to follow man, and it will sanctify us and those that we testify to. We will grow closer to Christ and recognize His hand in the details of our lives, as we practice testifying of Him.

“We need to do better and be better because we are in a battle. The battle with sin is real. The adversary is quadrupling his efforts to disrupt testimonies and impede the work of the Lord. He is arming his minions with potent weapons to keep us from partaking of the joy and love of the Lord.”- Russell M. Nelson

Russell M. Nelson tells us that Satan is quadrupling his forces. I know that I have felt it, and seen it, as he ruthlessly attacks our youth. If we were on the battle field of war, we would do whatever was required to be prepared with the best weapons and protection. Especially if we knew that we would be quadrupled by the enemy. This spiritual war is equal in reality, spiritual death can be the result of allowing the adversary to attack us, and to wound our spirits over and over again. We need to do everything in our power to prepare for battle. We need to add armor to our children as they leave the house each day, as they head to the front lines of the spiritual battle. Prayer and scriptures are irreplaceable and the best armor, but we have access to more. Why wouldn’t we do everything we possible can do to save our youth? Bearing our testimonies is one of these shields of protection that send the heavens to the battle field with our children.

D&C 62:3 Nevertheless, ye are blessed, for the testimony which ye have borne is recorded in heaven for the angels to look upon; and they rejoice over you, and your sins are forgiven you.

I am so thankful that I accepted a challenge 18 years ago to bear my testimony every fast Sunday. I have stuck with it, and it has blessed my life and my family’s life in ways that I can’t explain. There has been an added protection for us as sincere testimonies from a loving mother have strengthened, cleansed, and sanctified our home. I didn’t put this all together until this past week while sitting in institute and reading this verse from D&C, when suddenly my mind was opened to the power of testimony. I also felt an urgency to extend this challenge to others, so that they also could have the added blessings in their home. I am a strong believer in standing up and bearing our testimonies frequently in fast and testimony meeting–it doesn’t have to be every Fast Sunday, but set a goal and stick with it. Don’t believe the lies that Satan will put in your mind that you don’t have anything to share, or that no one wants to see you up there again. Satan doesn’t want to be conquered again, so he will do everything possible to stop the strengthening of testimonies, and diminish our ability to beat him. I have also tried to testify to my children every day, in small and simple ways, so that they can know how special they are, how much their Heavenly Father loves them, and how much Christ has sacrificed for them, because he loves them and wants them to return home.

“What does it mean to bear testimony? A testimony is an open declaration or confession of one’s faith. To bear is to give or bring forward. So as I bear testimony, I am giving a declaration of my faith.

Most of you would gladly bear testimony if called upon. I wish we could yield a minute to each one of you. The real power of the Church is not financial or political, but the quiet testimonies of its members.

Members may describe their testimonies as growing. A few say they have lost their testimonies. In bearing testimony, some use the term know, some believe. Some say, “Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” (Mark 9:24.)” -John K. Carmack (October 1988)

Please accept the challenge to bear YOUR testimony often. It will make all the difference, little by little, until you won’t be able to believe the strength that radiates from your home.
