Galatians 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. 11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
This is a big deal to me, because I had to come to grips of the power of “man” in my own life. I will be the first to admit, that there have been plenty of times when I was more worried about what “man” thought than what God thought. In 2016, after Russell M. Nelson’s talk “True Millennials”, I accepted Wendy Watson Nelson’s prayer challenge, and hit my knees asking, “What can I do to better serve you?” I don’t have the scripture that I opened to, my journal is packed away in a box, from my recent move, but the scriptures told me that I needed to love God more than man. I was devastated, because at this point in my life, I was fully committed to loving God, serving Him, sharing the gospel, and doing whatever I needed to do to move His will along. I was positive that I had opened to the wrong scripture. The next day, I repeated my question, and opened to a new scripture, which gave me the same answer. Once again I figured I had opened to the wrong scripture. Third day, same prayer, same answer. It finally hit me, that the Lord needed me to love him MORE than man. I hit my knees in humility to find out what this meant. It’s been three years since then, and I am unexplainably grateful for that sweet, tender answer from my loving Heavenly Father. I was indeed allowing the worry and fear of man, to stop me from having full faith and trust in the things that the Lord needed me to do. Since than I have made an increased effort to follow all impressions, and instructions regardless of what “man” could think or do. I hope my efforts have had an increased benefit in the work of the Lord? However, I know for a fact, that my efforts have had an enormous effect on who I am, and how I spend my time and energy. It has blessed me with an increase of understanding and knowledge and a desire to do the Lord’s will at all times, regardless of consequences. This journey has brought me closer to the power of the Atonement, and the love of our Savior.
Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Galatians 1:3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: 5 To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
This is the truth, through Christ’s sacrifice we have access to all His grace and love, he will fill in the gaps that we can’t do for ourselves. He will carry the load that is too heavy to bare, but he does require our hearts to turn to His, and to want his help. He won’t go against the great plan of happiness, which instills unshakeable and undeniable agency. We have the choice, and our choice dictates our ability to access the power of the Atonement in our lives, which is the fullness of His love. This love is the enabling power to be freed from the adversary’s lies and the bondage that he loves to put us in, sometimes knowingly and sometimes he is so sly and sneaky that we don’t even realize we are in chains, and that we have been fooled.
Galatians 2:4 And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:
We must have ears to hear and eyes to see the love and light of the Lord in this darkening world of chaos and deceit. Once we move our away from our own will, which is often dictated by the world, we will then be ready to enable the Lord to take the lead in our lives. This change in trust is what frees us, giving us the liberty we seek, the liberty to experience peace, joy, and happiness. We take on His cross, and crucify our old selves unto Christ, so that we can live here on earth with the wings of eagles and conquer mortality, through love of others.
Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
