Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John all wrote the most beautiful account of the birth, life, ministry, death, and eternity of Jesus Christ. They all ended their writings with the absolute fact that Jesus LIVES. He is alive, and part of our lives right now, every day. As I read these four accounts and realized that this was their last testimony, I got excited thinking about what should my last testimony be? I want my life to resonate to others that Christ indeed is alive and present today. I want them to feel his love through me, and to help them want to live more purposeful in the light of Christ.
D&C 76:22 And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!
This also stood out as a testimony to me of the importance of living. Every stage of life eternal is important and necessary. As we journey through earth life, we need to live a life of love and courage. It’s so easy to get into our routines or become complacent in life; however, every day is a blessing beyond measure, and we need to treat it as such. Look around at the trees and grass, the flowers and weeds; they are all worshiping the Lord with their glory and beauty. They never cease reaching high to the sky, glorifying their loving maker. When storms hit, they remain steadfast and faithful with their boughs reaching towards Christ. But Christ gave us so much more than plants! He gave us a life of choices that allow us to have happiness and fulfillment, and yet we often forget to look to him in honor and glory. We make choices that diminish who we were sent here to be. We allow the storms of life to break us down, and to affect the direction we are headed. As I read these four last testimonies that HE LIVES, it gave me enthusiasm to LIVE more intentionally.
“If we look to the world and follow its formulas for happiness, we will never know joy. The unrighteous may experience any number of emotions and sensations, but they will never experience joy! Joy is a gift for the faithful. It is the gift that comes from intentionally trying to live a righteous life, as taught by Jesus Christ.” -President Russell M. Nelson
This week as you read these last testimonies of the four great apostles, think about your own life and how you can apply these messages to your life right now. How can the fact that Christ is alive and active in your life change you? Make some goals that will help YOU live, right now, with greater purpose and intention.
“Deep and lasting happiness comes by intentionally and carefully living the gospel of Jesus Christ.” -Becky Craven
