Take time out to laugh. Be with people who make you happy. We are not simply meant to come to mortality in order to get a body and be tested. Just don’t become so enamoured with chasing happiness and fun that we forget to focus on things that matter most. But still, we can be happy, and we can even let our faces show it once in a awhile too!

There is no sense in comparing ourselves against anyone else, it’d be like comparing apples to oranges. No one has your strengths, weaknesses, skill set, knowledge, history, circumstance and challenges. No two people are the same. The race is against yourself. It’s a matter of being the best you that you can be!

“Heavenly Father doesn’t compare us to anyone else. Who we are is who He wants to come to Him. Who we are is who He loves.” – Jamie Glenn

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed these days, but in Jesus Christ we can find peace and rest. It’s an odd thing, because with all the busyness of life, adding going to church, taking time to pray, read scriptures and serving others, feels like it should make life more busy, and it often does. But in those activities, there is also peace and love and calm, which helps us when life isn’t so peaceful. So take time, and lean on your Saviour!

These things I have spoke unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. – John 16:33

The two great commandments are to love God and to love one another. Ever wonder why these are so important? I believe it’s because they both teach us to become like Him. If we can care more about what our God wants and about the happiness of others, we have taken a step at loving others as Jesus Christ loves them. We grow! So ask yourself, what can you do to be better today? Who can you help? and What would God have you do?

Quoted by Gordon B. Hinckley in 1973 and requoted while He the Prophet, this line was one of my favourites as teen and young adult. Life isn’t about the destination, although we definitely want to make sure of our destination, but it’s also very much about the journey. We need to get out of our own heads and enjoy the journey. Take pride in our lives and circles of influence, but not in an unrighteous way. Be happy, work hard, stand tall and let your light so shine, and don’t forget to glorify your God.

“Life is like an old-time rail journey – delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by  beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The Trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.” – Jenkin Lloyd Jones
