“I promise you that as you prayerfully study the Book of Mormon everyday you will make better choices everyday.” -Russell M. Nelson

The idea of reading the scriptures every single day can be a daunting task when not in the practice. Is every day really necessary? This is the same way I feel about cleaning and laundry every single day…is it really necessary? What I have found is that if I do it every day I am able to keep up easily and things don’t fall apart. But if I become ill and unable to do my daily chores, the home quickly becomes dirty and chaotic. Same with making food. I cannot go but a few hours before a child is crying how hungry they are. If I didn’t respond to that cry of hunger, or if I wasn’t willing to make the meals every single day for myself and the children we would eventually starve. Is it any wonder why we need that constant feeding of the spirit to keep us focused and far from iniquity?

“I am building a fire, and everyday I train, I add more fuel. At just the right moment I light the match.” – Mia Hamm (professional soccer player, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion.)

This same principle applies to every aspect of our lives. Our health is the same. If we neglect to daily put nutrients into our bodies over time the effect is poorer health, which is the most highly sought after quality in life. For athletes, it doesn’t take more then a week or two to feel the serious effect on their performance when they do not participate in daily practice. What about careers? I have not seen a career that doesn’t require daily attention, at least not a successful one. In the car business the values change, the “hot” cars change, it’s always changing. If Mark was merely to step away from the auctions for a time, he would fall seriously behind. Then of course the bills never slow down, they are always coming at a steady pace, so if Mark was to let up, we would fall in a very short amount of time. School is the same, my high-schools missed a trip to Florida, to hang on the beach in warm temps, because a week would be devastating on their grades. Everything of value and importance in our lives requires daily practice to stay strong, and orderly.
