Jesus knew who he was and he knew who is Father was. That unwavering confirmation gave him purpose and conviction to stand strong. He had a full understanding of who truly loved him, who would lead him safely home, and who would rescue him in time of need. He refused to entertain any lies or pressures that came from the opposing forces, instead he rebuked and testified firmly of the errors of their ways, always giving full credit to His Father and His purpose here on earth.

John 5:19 …Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. 20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. 21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. 22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: 23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.

As we prayerfully read the Come, follow me passages this week, focus on the eternal purpose of the lessons told. Feel Heavenly Fathers love in the power he gave Jesus to heal our physical, emotional and spiritual ailments. Feel His love in the committed faith of those who trust Christ in his leadership to fulfill the Fathers purpose through Him.

“One eternal truth that I have come to know is that God lives. He is our Father. We are His children. “We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost” (Articles of Faith 1:1).

Of all the other titles that He could have used, He chose to be called “Father.” The Savior commanded, “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father who art in heaven” (3 Nephi 13:9; see also Matthew 6:9). His use of the name “Father” is a lesson for all as we come to understand what it is that matters most in this life.” -Boyd K. Packer

The first vision is a great gift, for it revealed the truth of who our Heavenly Father was and the perfect unity of Christ with His father. It’s an example to all of yoking ourselves with them in oneness to combat mortalities struggles and to allow us to fully know who we are.

“Millions who have already joined the Church, as well as the many who are being converted and baptized each week, have gained a testimony of the First Vision. The Holy Ghost can repeat this witness often to each one of us as we strive to live the simple truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ.” -Elder Adilson de Paula Parrella

The Come, Follow Me weekly Challenge this week is to KNOW THE FATHER. As we prayerfully ask to have a stronger conviction of our Heavenly Father is and to feel ahis presence in our lives. Our purpose here in earth will illuminate and we will be blessed with added strength to resist the opposing sides temptations.

Despite a world that will try to knock us down to the level of “mere animals,” knowing that God is our Father assures us that we have divine potential and royal promise. Despite a world that tells us this life is a dead end, knowing that God’s Only Begotten Son has made it possible for us to be redeemed and resurrected gives us hope for eternal progress” – Jean B. Bingham
