Jesus’s  birth was anticipated to be one of glory and fame…he was believed to come in royalty.

Mathew 2:2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

Thousands of years waited for him and his majesty. He was prophesied about, dreamed about, and watched for.

Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

What a surprise for the Shepherds and the wise men who yearned for the coming of their king, who followed the star, and sought his goodness…to find the babe laid in a humble manger, no room for him in the Inn.

Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

When I was a teen I was a shepherd in the Easter Pageant, a play of the life of Jesus. My family kept watch together, we followed the star, and journeyed (on the stage) to see Christ. I remember the feeling of excitement that I felt. I also remember feeling his majesty, even though he was in a manger. It was a testimony that heaven’s glory isn’t compared to the glory of the earth. His glory came from His father in Heaven, and would remain with him through His entire mortal life. Nothing man made could take that light from Him. The world’s glory is developed outward, what clothes are worn, the value of the transportation, the prestige of the parents…developed by the status of man. Christ’s life was one of Inward glory developed through the knowledge of eternity and divine attributes passed to Him from Heavenly Father. The world tells us to focus inward, build ourselves up, push others down to go higher. Christ showed us that our focus should be outward….love our neighbors, give to the needy, homeless….love the unloveable…visit the widows. Reach out and touch the lives of the ill and broken. Do all we can to find those lost and help them back on the path to Christ.

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Mosiah 12:21 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings; that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good; that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth;

John 7:16  Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
