Clair and her family moved to Iowa. She was going to her first primary stake activity (Church activity). With her bubbly personality and taking the advise of her mom, she was determined to make friends. She sat by a couple of girls, and to get the conversation rolling she pulled out a conversation starter. “If you could have any super powers what would it be?” The little girl sitting next to her immediately, with no thought needed, declared….”TO BE ABLE TO HEAR!”

Wow! There you have it….WE ARE ALL SUPER HEROS!!

The power of hearing, the power of sight, the power of taste, the power of walking, the power of talking, the power of health, the power of joy, the power of love, power of motherhood, ….you name it and we are all loaded with super powers!

So whenever you feel inadequate…or when you wish you were good at something that someone else is good at…remember to take notice on what you do have.

I have a friend whose daughter was born with a disorder that leaves her in a wheelchair. She can’t talk, eat, walk, run, even sit up. However she is super smart….her brain works perfectly normal…but her body doesn’t work at all! Can you imagine what she would give to be able to express herself? To be able to tell her mom what she was thinking. So often my kids complain that I ask too many questions…well what if you couldn’t answer me? Suddenly, those questions are gifts. My kids and I have discussed how it would be difficult and miserable to not speak for one day. Even the simple “quiet game” leaves everyone fully anxious to say something. We cold carry on and on about each and every power listed above. Even the ability to eat, who would even care…you can’t live if you can’t eat? Right? Well…yes…kind of. I met a guy once who had stomach cancer, he was no longer able to eat…they fed him through a tube. He craved the foods he use to love….but there was nothing he could do. Even topics that aren’t socially acceptable to talk about…like the ability to eliminate normally….trust me…that’s a huge gift that many have lost. Once again …

Super Power!

Go ahead make a list!

Have your kids make a list!

Put on a cape!!

Feel the power…

AND GO BE AWESOME!!!!
