It’s been months since they changed our Visiting Teaching and Home Teaching to “Ministering”.
Yet, it is still a little confusing to some, what does it mean to “minister” to others?
It means to be as Christ was!
When I think back to the stories of the bible, my vision of Christ is one who humbly loved all! He would teach, heal, serve, forgive. His experiences along the way, helped him to understand and feel what those around him were facing.
That is what ministering is…we are to be like Christ…prayerfully seek to know what is needed and then teach, heal, serve, forgive…call, text, write a letter…bring dinner, help move, sit and chat…Help with a ride, babysit, clean a house…laugh, cry, and cheer!! As we minister we will love those we lift!
During the class my friend, thinking she was off topic, mentioned when people are dying they will mention that they see their loved ones from the other side of the veil. As we leave this life to return home our loved ones who have already passed come to get us to welcome us home.
That’s ministering! We want to be others loved ones here on earth! When they are in need we want to be ready to receive the prompting so that we can be there for them during those difficult times!
My husband, is not a member of the church, but over the years when we are in need of something urgently, who do you think pops in his head first and foremost? My faithful home teachers!! Yes!! Because they have quietly, lovingly been there for us to the point that our hearts know they will come and heal or help IMMEDIATELY!! They become our family away from family…greeting us in times of need!
