Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf gave an inspiring talk titled “Behold The Man”!

It brought up a topic that I have wrestled with for years. How could Pilate stand next to Jesus and not know who he was? I mean just imagine for one second having Jesus Christ standing next to you, our Savior, the ONE who suffered so that we could have peace. Would it matter what the world was shouting at you? Could they create such a distraction that you wouldn’t be able to BEHOLD his majesty?

What does it mean to us to BEHOLD THE MAN?

I believe that we too can be just as guilty of “washing our hands!” Even as faithful followers…maybe even more as faithful followers. Where more is given, more is expected!
As members of His church, we stand as witnesses that Jesus Christ lives, that he is real, and present in our daily lives. We are His disciples! I believe that to BEHOLD THE MAN, means that we are willing to be his hands here on earth! That we are willing to listen and respond immediately no matter how odd it seems to the world. We must recognize him in our daily lives, and be willing to trust that as we put Him first He will help us to accomplish the things in our lives that press against us.

The new program of ministering is absolutely divine. The Lord wants us to pray and listen as He guides us in finding others in need.

I love the stories of my sister, who prays every morning, who needs her help. Then she waits on the Lord for his gently promptings of who to serve. Often she will receive simple promptings of a phone call or text that is needed. However, sometimes she feels the push to help a neighbor that she barely knows. Every time she acts on the soft promptings, she feels the confirmation that she has helped the Lord today!

How many prayers would be answered if someone was willing to listen?

My favorite story is from when I was pregnant with my 5th baby. I always got deathly ill the first 6 months of pregnancy, with hyperemesis! This pregnancy was no different. However, I felt bad for all my neighbors and friend who so kindly had helped me with my previous pregnancies. I decided to weather the storm alone this time. My husband was out of town, and I was so ill, I couldn’t even walk to the kitchen. I had to crawl to the restroom, or to help my other 4 kids. They were so hungry, and I wasn’t sure how I was going to feed them. I tearfully pleaded with the Lord to help me feed my kids. Within 5 minutes, there was a knock on the door and my neighbor was standing with a half eaten casserole. “We just had a baby shower at my house, and this casserole was half eaten, I thought maybe your kids would like to eat it!” I couldn’t believe it! My sweet neighbor had listened to the Lords promptings that I needed food. She didn’t hesitate to worry what I would think. I mean, who brings a half eaten casserole to someone to eat? I’ll tell you who…someone who is answering another’s prayer.
Ever since this situation, I have made a commitment to respond as quick as possible to the prompting of the Holy Ghost, no matter how strange. I want to be the Saviors hands as He lifts and carries others.

For I am eternally thankful to all those who have aided me in my life, and have answered many prayers for me!
I believe that is how we can BEHOLD THE MAN!  We can recognize him standing next to us, and help him by helping others.
