James 4:2-3
2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

This really stuck out to me while listening to scriptures as I put the kids to sleep. How often do we feel that we do not get answers to our prayers? Verse 3 is very interesting: “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” Are we first aligning our wills to the will of the Father before asking, if not we are asking amiss to consume it upon our lusts.
This also remind me of James 1:5-8
James 1:5-8
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

If we waver, we can’t receive anything from the Lord. Our prayers need to ascend unto heaven, let us be more diligent in our prayers and also seek to align our will with the Lord’s and then we will see the power of prayer manifest in our lives.
