What a fantastic challenge!
I love reading the Book of Mormon fast!
It really brings the stories alive, and helps keep us excited as we focus on the goal!
My home is full of all different ages!
Here are some tips…I’m going to try …to help all in my household finish the Book of Mormon by the end of the year!
I will be honest I have been craving the blessings of the Book of Mormon in my home!
We read daily, but lately we have been going through the motions, rushing it, just checking it off our list!
I feel this challenge was designed just for ME!
Thank you to ALL the rest of you…for doing it with me!
Tip #1

Print off the schedule that Craig made on the blog! (here)

Post it in the most common area you can think of…for me that’s the kitchen! 🙂

If you fall behind or start late, just read an extra chapter a day until you catch up!
Tip#2

My teenager said, “Mom, I have read 1 Nephi a hundred times!”
That’s fine, start in 2 Nephi! 🙂
That was all she needed to feel like she can tackle this challenge!
Reading the Book of Mormon daily is going to lift these young kids like nothing else can!
Do whatever is necessary to help the teenagers feel like they can accomplish the goal!
Encourage and Support them daily!

Tip #3

Read it as a family so that the young ones get to hear the Book of Mormon also!
Plus they get to see that Mom and Dad take the challenges from our prophet seriously!
Hopefully, helping them to keep their eyes on the prophet as challenges arise in their lives…
And they WILL arise!
Tip #4

Break it up , so that it’s fun for all!
Read a little with breakfast…read a little when they come home from school…read a little at dinner!
It gives more opportunity to discuss it and think about it, rather than just cramming it in so that you get your pages in!

Tip #5

Always start with prayer!
When you start with prayer you are inviting the Spirit to be apart of your study. When the Spirit is apart of your study you will get more out of it and when you are getting more out of your study you will be excited to study again tomorrow. 😄

Tip #6

Smile while you read the Book of Mormon!
I have noticed that smiling helps our hearts and minds realize that we are enjoying ourselves!
There is nothing that is going to ultimately bring us more joy then the blessing we receive from reading the Book of Mormon, for it will bring us closer to our Savior, and help our hearts to calm!
As the mom or dad of the home, how  you feel about the challenge…is exactly how your kids will feel about the challenge!
If the challenge feels overwhelming…I suggest starting…at whatever pace is comfortable for you… and accompany that effort with prayer.
The Lord will help you to increase your excitement and to feel the spiritual increase in your home!
Tip #7

I have noticed that my kids like to run around when I’m reading the scriptures. So I started giving them coloring books or other quiet activities and they really like it. They are not necessarily quiet but quieter. 😉

Tip #8

I love to read the Book of Mormon!
I seem to get so much more out of it if I read it….
But if you are having a hard time finding the time…LISTEN TO IT!!

Tip #9

We are so lucky to have the Book of Mormon on our phones!
We can read it everywhere we go!
Grocery store lines!
Sporting Events!
Kids pick up lines!
Appointments!
This is just unbelievably fun!!

Tip #10

NO EXCUSES!!

Own the challenge…make it your own.
Let’s do it!!!!!!!!
