I have always loved Joseph with a special love. The below quotes simply solidify that love even more.
“I never had the feeling for one moment, to believe that any man or set of men or beings upon the face of the whole earth had anything to do with [Joseph Smith], for he was superior to them all, and held the keys of salvation over them.” -Brigham Young
Compare that quote with the below scripture.
JST, Matthew 3:24–26. Compare Matthew 2:23
24 And it came to pass that Jesus grew up with his brethren, and waxed strong, and waited upon the Lord for the time of his ministry to come. 25 And he served under his father, and he spake not as other men, neither could he be taught; for he needed not that any man should teach him. 26 And after many years, the hour of his ministry drew nigh.

Interesting comparison, and then we read in Doctrine and Covenants 135:3 about how closely related to Christ, Joseph really was.
3 Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it. https://www.lds.org/scriptures/dc-testament/dc/135?lang=eng
Do we worship Joseph Smith, of course not, but the day will come, when we will stand before our Maker and we will see Joseph Smith standing relatively close to the Savior in authority and power. And at that moment we will either shrink with shame or stand up with love in our hearts and a song of gratitude on our lips for the role Joseph Smith played in our very own personal exaltation.
Let us redouble our efforts in proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which Joseph gave his life for, that we might enjoy it and through it we might be exalted!!
