Alma 5:28
28 Behold, are ye stripped of pride? I say unto you, if ye are not ye are not prepared to meet God. Behold ye must prepare quickly; for the kingdom of heaven is soon at hand, and such an one hath not eternal life.

I keep having a dream about high school basketball. I felt very abused and mistreated through the high school basketball process, to the point that it still bothers me today. This morning, after having another high school basketball dream, I realized that it is possible that I keep having this dream because I still haven’t learned what I was suppose to have learned from the experience.
How often do we allow pride to hinder our growth and blame others for our mishaps? How many times do we have to go through the same experiences in order for us to learn the lesson from them? Well… For me it has taken 20 years of reliving the same experience through my dreams (not unlike Uncle Rico (Napoleon Dynamite reference)) to come to the realization that I was a prideful punk kid that was unwilling to submit myself to the demands of my coaches. I felt like I was a gift to their team and if they didn’t realize that, then they were at fault.
The process of becoming “stripped of pride” is not an easy one, but we are going to continue to suffer until we learn to humble ourselves. From an eternal perspective any amount of suffering in this life, that allows us to further humble ourselves to better secure our eternal home with our family, is worth it.
Ether 12:27
27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.
