Our Father in Heaven needs valiant servants, and the requirements are a willing heart and mind, that is all. He can turn us into whatever he needs to if our hearts and minds will do His will.
1 Chronicles 28:9 And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off forever.
The real battle going on is for our heart and mind, and the consequences of this battle are eternal. This is not a battle to take lightly, and now is the time to decide which team we are on.
Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
A couple of years ago I felt the need to start sharing the gospel with people when I came across this scripture.
Seek not to declare my word, but first seek to obtain my word, and then shall your tongue be loosed; then, if you desire, you shall have my Spirit and my word, yea, the power of God unto the convincing of men.
Since that day, a day has not passed that I haven’t studied the gospel, usually for at least a couple hours a day. I have felt a literal purging process take place that continues today. My disposition to do evil diminishes while my desire to do good increases exponentially. Every aspect of my life has improved and continues to improve, especially as my understanding of what is actually important increases.
Mosiah 2:41 And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.
