I just got back from a three day live seminar that my company put on, bringing the best personal growth gurus together and it was just so powerful. The three owners all spoke, but the one I want to mention was my good friend Ethan Willis. He won the entrepreneur of the year award and is a genius. I admire him for his accomplishments in business, but mostly, because he such a spiritual giant.
One question that was posed during Q&A was, “How can we move from the 1.0 version of ourselves to the 2.0 version?”
Ethan explained his process that he goes through when he has a project he is working on. He says that he has a theater room that he sits in and he may spend an hour or longer just visualizing the whole project from start to finish in great detail, literally with as much detail as he possibly can. He said that it allows him to connect with God or his higher power, because we are so much better off with the help of our higher power than we are on our own.
Here is a text message I sent him yesterday:

“I loved your comments on meditation and visualization. As I listened to you, the spirit whispered how what you were describing is a powerful demonstration of faith, for all things were created first spirituality and second physically. I listened to a blogs comments on the Lectures on Faith and came across this quote, and I had to pass it on:

“I think we pay too little attention to the value of meditation, a principle of devotion.
In our worship there are two elements: one is spiritual communion rising from our own meditation; the other instruction from others, particularly from those who have authority to guide and instruct us. Of the two, the more profitable introspectively is meditation.
Meditation is one of the most secret, most sacred doors through which we pass into the presence of the Lord” (Pres. David O. McKay, “Consciousness of God: Supreme Goal of Life,” Improvement Era, June 1967, pp. 80–82; emphasis mine).”

In case you missed it, listen to these words again: “Meditation is one of the most secret, most sacred doors through which we pass into the presence of the Lord.” Isn’t that just absolutely amazing? This is an area that I know I need to improve upon drastically. It is not meditation like the world teaches, although many of the concepts are true, it is all about putting our faith and hope into action. Joseph Smith says that faith is mental exertion. When we take time to meditate and visualize (our hope) in great detail, we are showing the Lord our desires, and then we wait for his seal of approval. From there, the Lord begins to teach and instruct us, and puts our righteous desires into action.

Joseph Smith says in the Lectures on Faith, “Who cannot see, that if God framed the worlds by faith, that it is by faith that he exercises power over them, and that faith is the principle of power? And that if the principle of power, it must be so in man as well as in the Deity? This is the testimony of all the sacred writers, and the lesson which they have been endeavoring to teach to man.”

God is God, because He is the Supreme Creator with perfect faith/perfect power and we are gods in embryo, which means that we are learning to be creators after His faith/power. We must learn to harness the power of faith and learn to create our realities, first spiritually and then physically, as our Father does. One way we do this is through powerful meditation/visualization aided by the Spirit, which is faith and hope in its purest form and in perfect harmonious action.
