Knock your knuckles are bloody

Shauna’s Moxtra post: Man, I am always blown away by the strength of my family! Elder Holland spoke at Kristina’s Stake Conference, it was so powerful and moving for her, she said he was either crying or yelling, trying to drive it deep in there souls to Trust in Him! He said knock until your knuckles are bloody, ask and ye shall recieve…but Trust in him Always! Another thought that she shared with me was. Also, “What we obtain to cheaply we esteem to lightly”

My Post:
I absolutely love that concept of knocking until our knuckles are bloody. It reminds me of when Jacob, Abraham’s son, wrestled with an angel until his thigh was out of joint, and finally prevailed and his name was changed to Israel, he received great blessings, and saw the Lord. He truly knocked until he had physical pain, and indeed, he did not obtain cheaply. He paid the price and the rewards significantly outweighed the sacrifice and the effort required. Here is the chapter heading of Genesis 32 and the verses:

Jacob sees angels–He asks God to preserve him from Esau, for whom he prepares presents–He wrestles all night with a messenger of God–Jacob’s name is changed to Israel–He sees God face to face.

24 ¶And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.

We often talk about Enos who prayed mightily all day and received great blessings, but let us also remember the diligence and the determination that Jacob (Israel) teaches us that is also required in addition to prayer in order to prevail.
