This is a powerful scriptural example we can apply to our own lives. Just as Elijah prayed that his servant’s eyes would be opened so he could see the workmanship of God’s hand in their lives, we too must pray for eyes to perceive God’s influence. Miracles happen every day, and God is always in the details—even when we do not recognize or see them. That is why it is so important to pray for eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts that feel, so we can recognize the power of God in our lives.
We also need to increase our diligence in serving and strive to be worthy disciples of Christ. We should aim to be one percent better every single day, serving as His hands to bless others, bearing witness, and testifying of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. By improving ourselves continuously, we become more available to be used in any way He sees fit to bless the lives of others.
As our late prophet Russell M. Nelson has taught, we are part of God’s army in these days. We do not want to be merely foot soldiers; we should seek to be leaders who guide and direct the Lord’s work on the earth today. Let us rise up, step forward, and become greater disciples of Jesus Christ, with eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts that feel the power of God in our lives.
2 Kings 6:14-17
14 Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.
15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?
16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
